Put on your 3D glasses and go in - from the very first step into the darkness it becomes clear: enthusiasm is paramount here.

Other worlds
Armed with mini-golf clubs and 3D glasses, we tackle the 18 holes. The rules are the same as in classic mini-golf.
But everything here seems much more exciting. Thanks to the blacklight and the spray-painted designs, each room takes us to a different world: through space in a spaceship, underwater to see sharks, into a blooming rainforest, or onto a pirate ship.
Each room is so imaginatively designed that we forget about the balls in our amazement and completely escape from everyday life.
Gleamgolf
Here, mini-golf is called Gleamgolf and is also designed for families. The courses are challenging, but manageable. There are special clubs for children and a small, mobile drink holder for our beverages. Anyone who gets dizzy wearing glasses can take them off and still won't be disappointed.
This is how the game is played
And so we play our way from lane to lane – sometimes alone, sometimes in a duel, or with full momentum through hoops and loops. We keep track of the number of strokes we need on our scorecards. We won't become world champions, but we have a lot of fun. We felt very comfortable here. You can even repeat lanes if there's space. Except for the last one, because the ball disappears into the water and doesn't come back up ;-)
Choose your location
Gate99 now has several venues: You can play in Kaiserslautern (2 locations), Mannheim (2 locations) or Heidelberg.
How much time should you allow?
The four of us played for about an hour and a half. You book your tee time and then have as much time as you need to complete the 18 holes. Remember to bring cash or a deposit, which you'll get back when you return your clubs and glasses. There's also a locker for your valuables. During the game, you should stow away anything you don't need: it's best to leave backpacks and jackets in the car, as you'll need your hands free while playing.
From what age can children play mini-golf?
This is of course an individual matter. I would say that from the age of 6, children can hold the club correctly and coordinate themselves enough to experience success while playing mini-golf.
Children's birthday parties are also possible.
