WAWI
Did you know that chocolate is produced in Pirmasens, and lots of it at that? WAWI has been in the sweet business for three generations. Nappo and Eiskonfekt are among their popular classics. With Oh WOW, they've added new, more vibrant brands. Since 1959, the family business has also been producing Easter bunnies, and you can see how it's done in their glass-walled production facility in Pirmasens.
Transparent production
A chocolate bunny – the most popular Easter gift. But how are they actually made? In the glass-walled production facility, you can see the entire manufacturing process of these hollow chocolate figures. Sometimes bunnies, sometimes Santa Clauses, and now also all sorts of other crazy shapes. You walk right up to the production line. Screens and information panels explain more about the production process. Then it's upstairs to the exhibition.
Chocolate dispenser
Delicious! Besides learning all sorts of chocolate-related facts about the super bean, we also get to sample the results of production. At the chocolate dispenser, you take a tasting spoon and can hygienically sample milk, dark, and white chocolate. If you've had enough and return your spoon, you get a free chocolate bar in exchange. Yes! And we can also try other varieties for free: from the classic Nappo to the latest creations.
Chocolate shop
The shop offers provisions for the journey home. You can buy inexpensive broken chocolate from the production facility, as well as the extra-large family pack of Wölkchen chocolate or a chocolate T-Rex.
Next to the shop you can take a break in the Wölkchen-Café.
Parking and opening hours
The best place to park is in the lower courtyard. From there, you can walk directly to the Transparent Production area and begin your tour there. Both levels are easily accessible and can also be reached with a stroller.
WAWI Chocolate World is open Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm. However, to see the production process in action, it's best to visit during the week.
