In disc golf, players must get their Frisbee into the baskets with as few throws as possible. The fewer throws, the fewer points, and the better the ranking.
The course features several baskets, each approached from a different starting point. Players approach the basket by moving closer to it. Some baskets are located more than 50 meters from the starting point. If a player misses the basket on their first attempt, they throw from the spot where the Frisbee came to rest on their next attempt. Therefore, each player needs their own Frisbee.
Disc golf with children
And that makes the game really fun for children too. Throwing a Frisbee requires a little practice and motor skills. But once you get the hang of it, you'll have a lot of fun. Just be careful not to hit other players with the Frisbees.
For children, there are also crocheted frisbees, for example, which are lightweight and fly well, but don't hurt. Instructions for crocheting them yourself are available , or you can ask at your local toy store (ARS Ludi in Speyer / Die Kugel in Landau / ...).
Where can you play disc golf in the Palatinate?
In the Palatinate region there are three courses where you can play disc golf.
The course in Worms was opened in 2020 in the city park next to the zoo. You can even download a map and scorecard for the course.
In Germersheim, the obstacle course is located right next to Lake Stollach and the playground. The chain baskets are scattered across the meadow. In summer, you have to be careful not to bump into anyone.
In Pirmasens, in the beautiful Strecktalpark, there's also a free disc golf course. With a map and scorecard , you can even get there without your own discs. You can rent or buy them at Dynamikum for €3.00 each.
