Playground hopping on a short, steep stretch

Playground hopping to two rustic Palatinate huts on a steep but short path
FACTS
Price: free
Weather: dry weather
Age: from kindergarten age
Dogs: allowed on a leash
Location: Dernbach
Starting point
Your hike begins at the parking lot directly next to the Dernbacher Haus. A narrow access road leads you uphill.
A few meters of elevation
The trail now climbs straight uphill for 1.7 km. You'll ascend a total of almost 200 meters in altitude, and it's not suitable for strollers. At the fork in the path, follow the signs to the right, and you'll arrive directly at the Landauer Hütte mountain hut and the indoor spring. For the return trip, take the same route, making the total distance 3.4 km.
Playgrounds at both huts
Both at the Dernbacher Haus (with a special children's menu) and at the Landauer Hütte you will find a small, nice playground and plenty of shady outdoor seating areas from which you can keep an eye on the playground.
Neuscharfeneck castle ruins closed
Extension: Those who have arrived at the Landauer Hütte and still have energy can hike to the Neuscharfeneck castle ruins. However, the interior is currently closed due to renovation work.
