Interactive exhibition, special exhibition or permanent exhibition
Admittedly, there's so much to discover at the TECHNOSEUM in Mannheim that one day simply isn't enough. For your first visit to the TECHNOSEUM, and especially if you're there with children, I recommend focusing on the three-story interactive exhibition ELEMENTA. Here, kids can experience, participate in, and experiment with technology at a variety of interactive stations. It's a fantastic introduction to the world of technology.
ELEMENTA - what is it?
Elementa is the interactive exhibition at the TECHNOSEUM and is spread across three floors. Each floor has its own themed areas. Elementa 3 is brand new, focusing on robotics and digitalization. Try out virtual reality, stand in a hurricane-force wind, and control robots or a swarm of animals with your gestures. Without a doubt, you'll ignite a passion for technology here. Elementa is designed for school-aged children. The interactive exhibits require a certain basic understanding of technology and an interest in engaging with the exhibits. Therefore, you'll need to set aside some time.
Children's highlights:
Controlling swarm intelligence with gestures
Sending pneumatic tube mail using your own power
Test jumping power
AI that recognizes and reacts to your emotional state
steam engine
My highlights:
Slot machine with PacMan
Storm Chamber
VR glasses
The TECHNOSEUM offers more
In addition to the interactive exhibits, the TECHNOSEUM also features a permanent exhibition with numerous demonstrations, as well as rotating special exhibitions. Ask at the ticket counter for a list of all the day's demonstrations and their exact times. This will help you plan your visit. Coin minting and paper folding are popular activities.
Break and refreshments
Exploring makes you hungry – in the workers' pub you'll find small snacks or daily specials to refuel. And then? On to the next adventure.
There are no restaurants in the immediate vicinity of the TECHNOSEUM, but afterwards it is worth going to the Schwetzingervorstadt district or the center of Mannheim.
Restaurant recommendations for families with children in Mannheim:
2 rabbits , pizza
Hans im Glück , Burger
PSV Schützenhaus , Greek
Parking and Directions
Around the ADAC Mannheim, you'll find parking options, including the "Friedensplatz" parking lot. However, keep in mind that this lot is also used by visitors to the BUGA 23 (Federal Garden Show 2023), and finding a parking space there can be difficult. Therefore, arriving by tram is highly recommended . The stop is called "Luisenpark/TECHNOSEUM" and is served by lines 6 and 9.
