So many highlights in the museum
Throughout the museum, we constantly stop in awe: fish that glow in the dark, dinosaur bones, the skeleton of a giant whale suspended overhead, the taxidermied animals of our region vividly depicted in their natural habitats. A life-size taxidermied polar bear, glittering gemstones, or even a dip into a volcano filled with lava. And then we watch in wonder at the jellyfish or the octopus clinging to the glass with its suckers. Spread over two floors, there truly is something for everyone to discover.
cafeteria
All that sightseeing can make you hungry. On the first floor, you'll find a small self-service cafeteria. A selection of cakes, coffee, and cold drinks invites you to take a short break.
Arrival by train and parking facilities
Parking in Karlsruhe usually means heading to a parking garage. The Natural History Museum is located right by the Ettlinger Tor, and the EC parking garage is also the cheapest option. On the street, parking is generally limited to one or two hours.
Those who prefer to travel by train can take several S-Bahn lines from the main train station to the "Ettlinger Tor" stop in 11 minutes.
From December onwards with the special exhibition "Out of Our Minds"
From December 1, 2022 to September 10, 2023, the special exhibition "Out of Our Minds" will also be open, taking you on a sensory journey through the world of humans, animals, and plants. With listening, smelling, and touching stations, interactive play areas, and special offerings for blind and deaf people, the exhibition becomes a truly immersive experience.
Enhance your visit digitally
You can also enhance your visit to the Natural History Museum digitally: experiments you can do at home or a live stream of the huge coral reef tank. You can also watch guided tours digitally: https://naturkundemuseum-karlsruhe.digital/
