When the first storks return to their nests after their long journey, spring arrives in the Palatinate.

Visit the stork center

In the stork village of Bornheim, they feel right at home, and with the interactive rally at the Stork Center, you can get to know these shy birds. Many storks are already busy incubating their eggs in the village's numerous nests. Their nests are huge and fiercely contested. There's clattering, courtship displays, and the nests are being further lined.

What you need for the rally

For the rally, you'll need a smartphone and the Actionbound app (for iOS and Android). It's best to download it at home beforehand. At the Stork Center in Bornheim, you'll find a QR code on the entrance door. Scan it and you're ready to go!

The app guides you to different stations and quiz rounds. Find the nests and answer the quiz questions to collect points. Will it be enough for the high score?

Stroller-friendly tour

The tour takes you through the village for about 2km, is completely suitable for strollers, and there's always something new to discover. At the stork barn, you can take a short break and watch the storks in the aviary, where they are being nursed back to health before being released back into the wild.

Webcam into the nest

The starting and finishing point is at the Bornheim Stork Center, where you'll also find parking. You can prepare for your tour by checking out the Stork Center's webcam (see links under "more information"). You might even be lucky enough to count how many eggs are currently being incubated in the nest.
