DEFYING A COLD WITH PLAY

A winter without a runny nose is like... well, winning the lottery! So, we diligently inhale steam with that stupid mask, which only works so-so. How wonderful that Petra has now created a salt room in Speyer.

Effortless inhalation

In Salt Elf Land, inhalation becomes child's play. The room, with salt on the floor and saline nebulizer in the air, is equipped with beautiful, high-quality toys. Even the youngest children can lie on a playmat here.

North Sea feeling in the Palatinate

The high salt content of the air has a similar effect to a visit to the North Sea and is beneficial for all kinds of respiratory illnesses, whether caused by a cold or an allergy like hay fever. A session lasts about 45 minutes, and the children will cough quite a bit. This is normal and will subside during the day. Then, they should start to feel better.

During breaks, the room is ventilated and disinfected with UV light. It's beautifully furnished and works perfectly for different age groups. Children up to about 7 years old can play here. Of course, older siblings are welcome too. Fine salt trickles through their fingers; here they shovel, there they dig. A truly lovely place to clear your nose.

Book appointments easily online

Petra greets us at the door. The mother of two used to work in radiology and has now opened Salzwichtelland (Salt Gnome Land). Because demand is so high, she has expanded the appointment times and now offers bookings on Saturdays as well.

It's very easy to book via the website. Payment is made in cash or by card on site. Please bring white or light-colored socks, as you'll need them in the play area. Toilets with changing facilities are available. We'll leave jackets and shoes in the anteroom and then go into the play paradise. After 45 minutes, the time is up, and we'll make room for the next group. This time is more than enough to achieve the intended effect.

Our coughs are already clearing up considerably. We'll drink plenty of fluids today and hope to be well again soon. We usually enjoy coming here, but we'd prefer to come healthy.

By the way: Children with a fever should stay home. They need their strength and rest. The Salt Gnome Land activity is too much for their bodies at that age. If necessary, you can cancel your appointment up to 2 hours beforehand.
