A little haven for families – a visit to Kaiserslautern Zoo is deeply relaxing, partly because it's a bit dated yet still offers so much. It has several attractions for children, making a visit worthwhile at any time of year.
Feeding the animals
You can feed the alpacas, sheep, goats, and deer with the animal feed (available at the ticket office or by the goat enclosure). You can also get really close to the other animals.
Walk-in enclosures
Visit the kangaroos in their enclosure, walk through the walk-through chicken village, or watch the sloths hanging out. They live completely freely in the tropical house and can be seen up close showing off their climbing skills.
Feeding times and flight show
The porcupines and banded mongooses are also easy to observe. The enclosures are particularly lively during feeding times. For example, the otters wash their food right before our eyes. At the ticket office, you can find the feeding times (from April to October) and the time of the falconry flight show, borrow a handcart free of charge, and find baby changing facilities.
Brilliant play area with water feature
The play area with its slide tower, climbing frames, baby swing, and digger is very popular with children. You'll also find plenty of benches and seating for a picnic or a snack from the zoo restaurant. In summer, the large water and mud play area is a real attraction.
