Outside the Palatinate region - but a wonderful place for anyone who has a gnome visiting them in winter and wonders: Where do gnomes actually live in summer?

You should plan some time for the approximately 5 kilometer long route, because every tree here holds a secret and wants to be admired.

The gnome houses are usually attached to large trees along the roadside, and the children are already running from tree to tree to find the next stations.

And each one is more magical than the next: a gnome daycare, a gnome hospital, a playground for gnomes or the wine bar - if you like, you can also take a photo of yourself wearing a gnome hat at the beginning of the path.

It also works with balance bikes and strollers.

If you can't manage the whole route, you can simply turn around. Or you can use a buggy or bring a balance bike. The gravel path is nice and wide and easy to ride on. With a balance bike, the only question is how often the kids will get off and you'll end up pushing it.

How did the gnome houses come to Leimen?

A private initiative maintains the Gnome Trail. Individuals can take care of "their" tree and build gnome dwellings there using natural materials. This has resulted in some truly imaginative creations. The initiative also ensures that dilapidated gnome doors are cleared and that the trail remains engaging. Many thanks for this!

Nature Friends House and Playground

Hiking makes you hungry. Luckily, the Naturfreundehaus (Nature Friends House) with its wildlife enclosure and large adventure playground is located at the start of the trail. In summer, you have a direct view of the playground from the terrace. Those who bring their own picnic will find benches and tables there. A detour here is definitely worthwhile.
